HVAC Design

Office & Commercial
HVAC Design

From open-plan floors and boardrooms to server suites, Chillmasters produces detailed HVAC designs that balance comfort, energy efficiency and compliance — giving contractors a complete, buildable specification from day one.

Complete Design for
Commercial Buildings

Good commercial HVAC design starts with accurate data. We calculate cooling loads using real solar gain figures, actual occupancy densities (typically 8–10 m² per person for offices), equipment heat gains from IT and lighting schedules, and local climate data — so system capacity is right, not over-estimated by a rule-of-thumb that wastes capital and running costs.

  • Detailed cooling load calculations accounting for solar gain, occupancy, equipment and lighting
  • VRF and VRV ceiling cassette selection for open-plan floors with coordinated pipe routes
  • Separate zone control design for meeting rooms, executive offices and reception areas
  • Dedicated precision cooling specification for server rooms and IT suites
  • Ductwork layout drawings coordinated with structural and architectural plans
  • Equipment schedules, pipe sizing calculations and materials specification
  • Full tender pack including drawings, specification and employer's requirements
  • Compliance with CIBSE TM44, Part L (Non-Domestic) and Building Regulations

What Shapes a Good Commercial Design

Accurate Load Calculations

We model solar gain through each facade, occupancy at peak densities, IT equipment watts per square metre, and lighting heat gains — producing a room-by-room cooling load that avoids both under-spec and costly over-engineering.

Zone-by-Zone Control

Open-plan floors, meeting rooms, server rooms and reception areas all have different occupancy and internal gain profiles. We design individual zone control strategies so each space is conditioned independently, eliminating waste from blanket cooling.

Server Room Cooling

IT and server rooms generate high, consistent heat loads that standard comfort cooling cannot handle reliably. We specify precision close-control units with N+1 redundancy, raised-floor or in-row configurations, and appropriate controls to protect critical infrastructure.

Full Tender Pack

We produce everything the installation contractor needs: AutoCAD and PDF ductwork layout drawings, equipment schedules with model numbers and performance data, pipe sizing calculations, a written specification and employer's requirements — removing ambiguity at tender stage.
